Horse Heroes Alberta is a community and network of horse advocates working together to help equines in crisis. Its work includes rehabilitating unhealthy horses, finding homes for homeless horses and making compassionate end-of-life decisions when necessary, with quality of life placed first. Many of its intakes have been horses removed from the slaughter pipeline, along with owner surrenders. The organization also promotes adoption, sponsorship and education about the value of horses beyond their ability to be ridden.
