Free Spirit Sanctuary is a non-profit animal sanctuary northwest of Cochrane that provides lifelong refuge for rescued domestic and wild horses, donkeys and a small number of farmed animals. Many of its residents have experienced abuse, neglect, the threat of slaughter or have special needs. Rather than focusing on adoption, the sanctuary provides animals with a permanent home while promoting compassion for animals and advocating for the protection and freedom of Alberta wild horses.
