Pickup and Delivery for Farm-Direct Beef
The sale is not finished when the animal goes to the processor. Customers still need to receive their beef safely, understand where to collect it and arrive prepared to take it home.
Decide where pickup happens
Depending on your arrangement, customers may collect directly from the processor or from another appropriate location after the beef has been processed and packaged.
Tell customers the location, pickup window and contact person well in advance.
Remind customers about freezer space
A first-time bulk-beef customer may underestimate how much room is required. Give them an approximate expected packaged quantity while making clear that actual yield varies.
Keep the beef cold
Frozen and refrigerated meat needs appropriate temperature control during storage and transportation.
If customers have a long drive, encourage them to arrive prepared with adequate insulated containers or other suitable arrangements.
Be clear about delivery
If you offer delivery, define the area, fee, minimum order, delivery schedule and what happens if the customer is unavailable.
Confirm before pickup
A short message confirming date, location, balance owing and expected quantity can prevent many common problems.
