regulatory system.

Canada has organic standards

Canadian organic standards establish requirements for certified organic
agricultural production. Certification addresses production practices,
permitted substances, record keeping and oversight.

Organic does not simply mean grass-fed

Organic production addresses much more than whether cattle eat grass.
Feed sourcing, livestock management, permitted substances and production
practices form part of the organic system.

The Canada Organic Logo

The Canada Organic Logo is a regulated certification mark and its use is
restricted to qualifying certified organic products.

Organic and local are different

A nearby farm may use practices you value without being certified organic.
Likewise, organic certification describes compliance with an organic
standard; it does not tell you how geographically close the farm is.
